Well I had to put it on asap! Can't wait to get the new motor in. This wing nut will look good on top of it 😀

Update on the 88. It's in the shop getting the steering shaft upgrade, SS steering box upgrade, and F41 front and rear sway bars installed. I know it's been awhile but my family has had a rough year. My wife had been out of work all year due to a car accident in February, and things were kind of slow. She is doing much better now and things are picking up. I will post pics of the upgrades once I get the car. I also bought another car and plans drifted toward the new project. So my new plans for the 88 are to basically clean, and rebuild the 307 with a mild cam, and pass it to my son.

Got the 88 back and I must say......man I am so glad I stayed with my vision. Those upgrades work really well. I can't take the credit because I've gotten tons of ideas and help in the forum. The F41 front bar was exactly what this car needed. I haven't got pics of the bar yet but will once it's dry. I did get a pic of the steering shaft, and gear box, and the sway bar is visible. Still haven't installed the rear bar yet, but that won't take long. The car rides, and drives so much better. It wasn't bad before, but now it's so much fun.

Glad to see progress and improved handling. A vin 9 roller cam is a nice upgrade and about the only off the shelf cam small enough for a 7.9 to 1 307, it was a 30 hp upgrade for the swirl port 307. Of course stiffer valve springs, dual snorkel air cleaner and dual outlet exhaust all helped bring that number about. The governor and servo I am sending will help move it along better as well.

Exactly what I was doing to it, cam wise. I've already bought a dual air snorkel for a Hurst. It drives great but I just want a little more go. I'm saving the hp engine for my Salon.

Good call. I would also add 2" or 2.25" dual exhaust. I had Hooker Aerochamber's on my 88. First as the Hooker cat back without a cat. Then with shorty headers with dual 2.5" pipes and with a compact x pipe into the 2.5" cat back. Sounded amazing. I moved the 2" dual exhaust with glass packs from the 70, along with the Olds 260 into the 88. Actually I ran the headers and 2.5" dual x pipe dual exhaust on the 260 for a bit. It would almost spin the tires on pavement from a stop. I moved that system over to 70 and it droned and didn't sound the same. Either 2" or 2.25" true dual exhaust is much better than the crossover and cat back set up. I had dual 2.5" dual exhaust all ran under the passenger side, so need for a dual hump cross member.

My plans are to go with dual 2.25" with an H pipe, and I'm thinking about fabricating a set of Olds big block manifold. I just want better flow than what I have and no issues with clearance. Don't want to have to change starters, oil pumps etc. I'm saving that for my 87 Salon Project. I just want a little more performance from the 307 and be able to enjoy driving my Cutty. Which headers did you like best, shorty or long tube?
