Anyone running a 9" front wheel with a 255 or 265 tire trying to firgure out if 5" BS will work with that combo on a lowered GN or can i do a larger BS? Wheels are 18".

Check out XCESSIV6's car. He has 9.5s up front with 255/35/18s and 275/40/18s in the back with 10 inch rims and he didn't notch the frame.

I have 9.5's up front but with just a 245 series tire. It's tight and they rub on the outer wheel well. No frame interference. They could stand to have another .25"-.5" of backspace. If I remember correctly my fronts have something like a 4.75"bs.
I remember years ago someone putting a set of 17x9's on a Monte and the magical bs number was 5". Don't know what size tire they were using.

That is what i was thinking about trying 5" BS or maybe 5 1/4" and keep with 255's. How close would you say the 245's come to the frame at full lock not to worried about the wells i will mod them if needed?

This is Xcessiv6's car. He has the widest combo without mods that I've seen on this site so far. Some one asked him about his back spacing in one of his post. I think it was 5.

His car is the one I used for the bacbackspacing measurement for my '87. One thing I didn't take into account is the thickness of the slip-on rotor. I don't believe he had the same front brake setup I had.
So my wheels sit about 3/8" further out than they should. In my situation, a 5" to 5.125" BS wheel would have been better.

My rear wheels have 6" of bs on an 11" rim. But that obviously took a notch.

I think i'm going to try the 9" with 5"bs as i have Wilwood slip on rotors that push out slightly wider than stock worst case i can use a thin spacer if needed but i think they should be fine.
