Hi everybody, I've been missing in action lately due to rebuilding an engine for my Chevy truck, but here I am and in need of some help from the guru's... So here's my question, I'm looking for someplace to buy a Chrome timing chain cover for my 4.3 V6 but can't seem to find anywhere local or online that sells them for my engine. I know there probably isn't much if any call for them with the 4.3's but I want to dress it up a lil bit. I've found chrome valve covers and some other parts but not timing covers? So is a small block timing cover the same for a V8 as a V6 ? I've read that the 4.3 is just a V8 with 2 cylinders cut off but this is my first ever engine build so i'm learning as I go. also since I've found covers for small blocks, what about the timing tab, I found one place online that sells a tab for a 6" balancer ( which my engine has) but it says for 283-350 and the 4.3 is a 262 ? ay help would be much appreciated !!! Thanks again everybody

Any SBC timing chain cover for a engine of that year should work. As far as the timing tab, get a chrome one with the cover and compare it to the factory timing chain cover's tab. I suspect it's in the same location. If not, it can't be to far off.

Let us know how it turns out and any additional info you learn.

That 4.3 is a good, durable engine. Your's is looking good.

Good luck.

Thanks Csilvy2000 for the roses about the engine, I appreciate that. I suspected the SBC cover would fit but the tabs are separate and bolt on with the cover bolts and I just don't know enough about engines to know if the tab would work. Thx for your input again.

Summit Racing® Chrome Timing Covers SUM-G3200- k If you have a one piece rear main. SUM-3200 if it is a two piece. less than $20 bucks. By the time you get everything back on the front of the engine you won't be able to see it anyway.

well I decided to take the members advice on this one since it will be mostly hidden, so I just stripped my cover I already had down to bare metal and painted the front with high temp aluminum paint.. turned out pretty good...
