A/C warmer when standing still?

I don't know if I qualify as "converted" since I'm using the ES-12. On the road with good airflow I'm getting 38* on a 80* humid day. In traffic it creeps up to 40*-45* which demonstrates how poorly these cars direct air over the condenser. I'm using the complete original 3.8 set up except for an aluminum V-8 radiator with 160* stat. That thing cools very well.

some put a 12" electric fan in front of the condensor that kicks on when the AC is turned on and that can help in stop and go traffic

I am considering this. Any suggestions on a brand or type? Would I just put a piggyback line off of the two green wires that lead to the compressor and idle solenoid? I see some on ebay. Would one 12 inch be ok, or should I get two 12 inchers or two 10 inchers?

I tapped into the ac line to trigger the relay to turn on the fan. I put a 12" and I think it was a flex-a-lite

Yeah mine also is warmer standing still. I think it is partially due to lower line pressures but more that there isnt as much air flow. I have the stock condensor, evaporator, and pump, all 30 year old R12 stuff. I put a new dryer on and had to put new lines on the compressor but it is decently cool. Was pushing 50 degrees out the vents yesterday in 93 degree and HUMID. Looked at the pressures and it was overcharged so I let out a bit and it runs around 38 or so. I also have a set of Intrepid electric fans that are triggered off the pump so when the AC turns on the fans go to high. I get a TON of air movement with them, so I only get about a 5 degree rise in idle ac temp.

The thing that kills the AC more than anything else on the Gbodies is how crappy the fan speed is. The high setting on a G body is like where most cars low to moderate fan speed is. Its not that my vent temps are high, its that I could blow more air with a straw....

Is there any blower motor or squirrel cage that gives more volume air flow?

i was able to get 50*F out of the vents yesterday, but i noticed my compressor was cycling on and off , added a can of r12 and i still had 50*f from the vents, but without the cycling. This was sitting in my driveway, went on the highway for a little bit and it dropped to 39*F. I agree with everyone else, the high speed on the fan is pathetic, its like using the low setting on my 89 accord. Only thing i can think of is swapping the motor out for a better one.

I run a 13 '' pusher fan that comes on while the compressor is running. I just redid my r12 system and added a serp drive.
It gets cold enough for the old lady to complain about how cold she is he he he....
( if you know what I mean.)
