A little something to offend everyone

Just a quick update. The EZFlash box and cables showed up a couple weeks ago and I finally got a chance to get the tune flashed to my new ECM. So far so good. I'll give it a couple more days before I call it permanently healed. Maybe I'll dig out the roof rack and do some more work on it. Maybe I should just mow the lawn :-| .

Or even better yet, how bout the same engine in a nice example of a late 60's (Chrome bumper'd) MGB?

I always liked this Quad swap. I'm sure there are other, more detailed build threads for it on other forums but I ran across it here: http://www.quad4forums.com/forums/showt ... hp?t=16396 .

From personal experience I can say that they really are a great little engine. Decent power, economy and (I think) a cool look. It doesn't bother me that it's overlooked though. If they were more common I probably wouldn't have considered it. In fact the next two runners-up were a Chrysler 2.2 turbo and a 2.3 Volvo (B23) turbo. When it came right down to it, the Quad made more power WITHOUT any help. In the Datsun community the most common swap is the KA24, both SOHC and DOHC. It's really well documented and can be done for quite a bit less than what mine cost. The power levels are similar too. However, when I go to a show NO ONE has what I have.

I think a Vega or Chevette would be a really cool platform. Even a Monza would work good. The biggest obstacle is the height. They're just a tall engine. Depending on how the steering linkage and crossmember is placed, things can get complicated there too.

That has got to be THE goofiest project I have ever seen....lol. I did have a '64 Rambler (2 door) with a 350 and a 4-speed in it. It was a neat car. Didn't have that one very long. Someone came by the house one day and wanted it, so I let him hold it. lol

This was a neat swap - someone commenting on the thread posted it up. It's an '88 Grand Am with a supercharged 3800 swap. Runs 12's on pump gas. Still FWD though. :|

Few pics of my Rambler:

The drivetrain was already in it when I bought it. It had an 8" Ford rearend in it as well.

Been in that gang. I had a '64 too for a couple years. It was bone stock when I got it. I put in a tired 283 then built a 327. It had 2 different Saginaws then a T5. The rearend I used was out of a Dart. As usual, lost interst once it was done and sold it. Super fun little cars. I'm mainly a GM guy but I still feel that the Ramblers were a better vehicle in general than GM, Ford or Mopar at the time.

Cool American mechanic58, that ones twin is up here in ny (had to do a double take on the plates, lol), same color, year, stock steels, but likely an amc driveline.
