The Tampa Bay Rays have made it to the World Series... surely the end of the world can't be far away!!!

Being A life long Red Sox fan I have to say that the Rays deserve it. Boston was not playing where they should have been and as usual they left too many men on bases and didn't bring in any runs.

Congrats to Tampa Bay for a first ever world series. Hopefully they will take it all the way.

It's just funny for me as someone who lives here. Up until this year, they practically paid you to go to the games. You could get free parking and admission for most seats was like $5. They did everything they could to get people to fill the stands. Everything but actually field a good team. This year, they did field a good team so people became interested. I find it funny that this all happened when they started begging for a new stadium. Coincidence? I think not, but now tax payers may actually vote to spend money on it rather than tell them to go elsewhere.

As a Clevelander (insert sports joke here - yeah I watched yesterday's Browns game).

Anybody remember the Movie Major League, the Indians were the worst team in Baseball and they needed to lose to move the team? Watching that movie when it was new was hard, because the story was true (we sucked like the Indians in the beginning of the movie). When I saw it on video a few years later it was funny because the end of the movie was true (everyone was crazy about the Indians because they were doing good, with a new stadium). Everyone goes through this, maybe Major League 4 should be about the Rays.

Oh and by the way, the Harbinger of the Apocalypse is the Brown's in the Super Bowl. In Cleveland, the most popular sports phrase is "wait till next year". If we make it, there is no more next year. Watch for the Browns to win in 2011, since the world is going to end in 2012 prior to the football season.

What I don't get about Cleveland is the name of the football team. Most teams are named after something that community is known for. Pittsburgh has the Steelers because of the steel industry. Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers due to the pirates that used to roam the area. Then we come to Cleveland and who do they have? The BROWNS! Yes, they named their team after the dullest color in the palette. What does that say about Cleveland? "Come to Cleveland. We're as exciting as the color brown!"

Wish I could argue against that... It's been so long no one remembers who Paul Brown was, so naming the team after him was probably not such a good idea. However, look up Cleveland sports history, we have done worse naming a team.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Browns

The franchise conducted a team naming contest in 1945. The most popular submission was "Browns" in recognition of Paul Brown, already an established and popular figure in Ohio sports.

Actually I didn't know this until I saw an ad for some Browns video while watching the Packers whup up on the Colts 😀 😀 yesterday.

I'm not saying that there is not an alternate reason, I'm just stating perception. My statements were intended to be taken humorously, but they lose something in the translation to the written word.

Oh, I got the joke. But in Cleveland if we wanna football joke, we watch a game. I am one of the biggest Brown's fans and it is getting embarrassing. Dictionary definition of "Loser" - Cleveland Brown's fan who is a Democrat.

Hopefully we can correct one of the two, and I don't see football getting any better soon.

Hey, at least its not Cincinnati! +1 Browns
