Wasn't there a thread on here a while ago with something about back in the day?

Doug

Thats the fun of getting old Doug, you can forget everything and start all over again and tell the same old storys.....

I haven't been to a decent cruise night in a really long time. The spots that used to be nice usually get shut down because of the knuckleheads that cause problems.

some people don't understand the concept of bending rules and going with the program to blend in...they want all the attention and they get it ruining it for everyone

Cruising is all but gone here, just a few Friday & Saturday show and shines. There used to be hundreds of cars on Central Ave on Friday night. The Fast and the Furious crowd ruined that.
The Phoenix Cops finally put an end to that stuff.Tickets for any thing, no matter how small.
No parking signs everywhere.Three times past the same point in an hour gets you a nice fat fine, ect......

Same here, there used to be very nice cruise nights here, for the most part, authorities looked the other way as long as the speeds were kept down, and certain laws were obeyed. Street was lined with people and cars, no one got out of hand, we were all there to enjoy the night. Well it seemed as soon as that dumb movie came out, the gentlemans light to light or 0-60 run (which ever came first) went out the window. A bunch of idiots (excessive speed, street racing, reckless driving, you the ones) ruined it for those who enjoyed just hanging out, lighting a few tires up, and bs'n. Now, if you have an even remotely aggressive appearing/sounding car you stay away from that area on friday and saturday nights. I was given a police escort out of the city a few years back while just passing through (I stopped at a gas station for a soda). It sucks because that was a full night of cheap entertainment

I live in Independence Missouri and we had a big cruzin strip. Tons of cars and girls. Some times the scene was boring and some times there was to much excitement. People have been cruzin this spot for years. Before I ever had a chance to take the ride. I enjoyed it for the most part. To much trouble and idiots fighting. All the do not park signs went up. Cops would drive down four cars wide with some more behind them pulling in where some would be hanging out. Tickets to all. I think if you could do something without people tring to beat each other up. Then maybe they would allow it again. But some people think they have to prove them selfs and ruin it for everybody. Ive seen some cars get trashed people getting jumped. Cars chasing other cars causing wrecks and killing some of them. Thats sad but true. My brother told one time he was out there and seen a guy get shot and killed over nothing. It wasnt always bad but these people dont want anybody to be happy. Now if you even look like your cruzin you get pulled over and ticketed.

My daughter who lives in Australia is in town for the season. Due to the lack of snow I took her for a ride in the GP which she had not been in since the 355, headers and duels and 5 speed standard, etc was dropped in. She was impressed with the power and said over in Australia cars like mine get pulled over regularly and some of the mods have to be removed, then it's inspected and the mods go back on til the next time. She also said that they all drive according to the speed limit, maybe a bit under the limit but never over. Doesn't sound like it'd be much fun driving one of these over there. I don't think we have any members from down under and that could be why.

I alway thought that the law was more lax in Australia. There are certainly alot of gearheads and high performance freaks in the land down under. This surprises me. It would be nice to hear from other gearheads from Down Under and hear their spin on it.

I just took a google tour of Australia speed limits. They have cameras all over the place there and I read a couple of posts from guys who got nailed for 8 kph over (5 mph) and 6 kph over so it doesn't look like they give any leeway there...here on the 401 highway we can travel 120 kph in a 100 zone without the cops even looking at us..translated that's basically 75 mph in a 60

I see the rice and 'tuners' getting pulled over quite a bit in my city. But the real cars seem to get left alone.
