AC brackets froze?

Been trying to put a new water pump on my 82 Malibu wagon(305, AC/ powersteering), but I cannot get the AC Compressor to budge on its adjustment rails to remove the belt. Im unsure if the power steering pump below it needs to move first but its very hard to tell as there doesnt feel to be any give in the compressor. I have both locking bolts unscrewed and checked that the bracket faces havent simply rusted to the compressor itself. Im pondering if the power steering pump needs to be loosened first in order to let it swing up, and thus let the compressor swing down a bit to make enough room.

Am I missing something here folks? IM working in the dark almost literally so perhaps Ive overlooked a bolt I need to wrench loose first.

Loosen the pivot bolt?

A6 or R4 compressor? Original would have been R4

It’s an r12 converted job. I don’t know if the pivot bolt is one of the two in the slots or not. I’ll look after work today.

I should say 4 on the front 4 on the back....

It’s an NOS R12 compressor, but the system has 134a fittings on it so I assume it’s just had the heads swapped out on the fill/drain ports. I’ll have a look for these other bolts tonight.

R12 is a refrigerant

R4 is a rotary 4 cylinder compressor....the short one.

A6 is an axial 6 cylinder compressor.....the long one

It still doesn't describe what compressor you're using. Your year would have the shorter R4 rotary compressor. Earlier cars, like mine, would have the A6 axial type compressor. They both used R12 refrigerant originally.
I think Brian pretty much described both types.^^^

Compressor usage was dependent on year AND engine, both types were used in the same years.

But, for a factory installed 305 in 1982, it would have been an R4
