ac compressor interchange

my ac compressor is shot in this 79 regal i got. car has a 350 chevy plopped in it. its got the old style "pancake" lookin compressor in it. from what i've seen is 79 and older should work from gm vehicles. is that true or can i bolt in a 80's model compressor with little effort?

Good question. I wondered the same but ended up just buying a remanufactured one from Ebay for about $80 that was listed for my car. My 79 compressor has a low pressure cut out switch on the back. See if yours does and also the replacement. The replacement I got didn't have the switch but had a plug with a snap ring. I used my old switch and it worked.

just looked and its got the switch on it. found the 80 dollar one on ebay. not too bad of a price. soon as funds allow i'll snag one of them up. thanks man
