I have stock 79 Monte Carlo and I need to recharge the ac
What kind of refrigerant does it take
The sticker is gone

R12 is the factory Freon. If you want to mortgage your house you can score 3 cans (Maybe). It was phased out of new cars by 1994.

R134A is the conversion Freon typically used. This requires different Refrigerant Oil and Orifice Tube.

134A is up to $10-$15 a can and not getting any cheaper.
