Hi Guys, I have a 83 HO and am having a problem with my AC system. The lever on the AC panel that controls Cold - Hot is not working. The lever on the panel pushes a cable. The cable attachment to the Inner AC box has broken off. Also lever arm that the cable end attaches to push and pull the heater box door, in the engine compartment box, has broken out of the swivel mount.

Has anyone had this issue and is there a way to fix without replacing the whole box assembly? Very frustrated, just spent a lot of money having the engine compartment AC box replaced and getting the air going in the car.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

Yep. Had that happen years ago on my '87. Was stuck on full heat in the middle of summer and was a big pain in the butt to fix with everything in the car but I managed.

One problem might be finding a new swivel arm/bell crank. When mine broke you could still get them from the dealer but don't know if you still can.

Is your bell crank piece still stuck in the box? If it is, you have twist and pull up to release it.

No the bell crank is loose. I wonder if it just came out and I twist to put back in. Just tried to push in.

Anyone have part number

Thanks for reply

I don't have a part # But I needed one a couple of months ago. I could not find a new one so I got one from this guy on E-Bay. He is a bit pricey but when it's 117 in the shade in Phoenix you have to do what you have to do.
