Hi guys I'm tearing down the top half of my 3.8 in my cutlass to replace the head gaskets. When I took off the intake I saw that the previous owner had deleted the egr by putting a metal plate on it that I could tell he cut out himself. My question is if I should be worried about anything being screwed up because of this or if there's anything I need to check to make sure he did it right or if I should get a non egr intake or just put it back together and not worry about it. Thanks for the advice guys!

Imo put it back together and dint worry about it. People block them off all the time.

People do lots of silly things but that doesn't mean you should follow suit and do those silly things too.

The thing with EGR valves are on a stock engine the timing advance is calibrated for use with the EGR. If you go ripping out the EGR valve and don't address the timing, you could have pinging due to too much part throttle advance. So I say put the EGR back on OR you could reduce the vacuum advance on the distributor and leave it off. If running on the CCC system, there's really no way of altering the 'simulated equivalent' of vacuum advance, so you should run an EGR.
