Not that I have found.

The wood wheel in my '87 is more of a mahogany where as the fake woodgrain is burlwood walnut.

My button goes on the usual way.

A lot of time the fiberglass piece gets worn (from trying to just push it on lol). I bet if you buy a new one it will all work fine.

Hey, I know this is about steering wheels but... Will that stainless trim on the dash fit in an '80 Cutlass? I want to ditch the grain...

I bought this cheap grant steering wheel which is smaller in diameter than stock and I love it. The only problem is that the horn button is this cheap crappy push-on piece that pops off in certain scenarios, and then the horn goes off continuously. I imagine it doing this in the parking garage when I'm not around and going off for hours until the battery dies, or somebody breaks my window to make it stop. Therefore, I am looking for a new steering wheel! Does anyone have one they like that doesnt have a POS horn set-up?

thanks

You are right. I had the exact same problem. I think maybe the exact same steering wheel too. The problem occurred when the car was parked in the sun, on a hot summer day. The heat caused the POS horn button to warm up to the extent that it would just pop or fall off. Then of course there was nothing holding the fiberglass piece up off the steering ground, which caused the horn to just go off.

I remember running out to the car a few times, holding that little piece up with both hands, then wondering how I was gonna be able to get the horn button back on without setting it off again. Eventually I just stuffed kleenex in there because I got sick of it popping off.

This is the wheel you speak of I'm sure:

Here is the wheel that I will be replacing it with this summer:

I managed to wedge the horn button on there somehow and it seems to be fine. However it only works if you hit it just right which means usually when I need it the most it doesnt make the proper connection and sound. Whatever. I dont even care anymore...have larger issues with the car at the moment.
