OLDS Alternator mount adjustment "anvil"

Can't believe you can't find one. I've got an NOS one, but you ain't getting it. That's for me. LOL

Worse comes to worse, you can MAKE one. Or get one made. Take a piece of round stock, cut a flat spot in it, then mill an indention in the flat spot for the bolt to ride in, then drill and tap a hole for an 8mm stud or something you can loctite in place, then use a nut/washer to hold it to the bracket.

Just thinking out loud. If you decide to make one, we can probably get you dimensions...

I am guessing that I will likely try to make one. I had already identified some 6061 round stock from McMaster-Carr that would work as I had the exact same idea for making one. I have a friend with a machine shop that would likely let me do this.

Can't do the crawl around the junkyard thing here anymore. They are all "Tell us what you need, and we'll go get it."

Even if you could it’d probably suck just finding one in a junk yard anymore

Oops yes was at yard couldnt remember. There always that one other thing you forget at the store. So head back over it only about 7 mins away

Just curious, what year Olds V8 did this come on? I don't remember seeing this on any car, worked on dozens of Olds V8 cars. It is nice adjustment vs the regular bolt.

Just every V8 307 Cutlass made in the 80s. Had to be a 307 and ‘83 and later… I think… cue 69hurstolds to verify🤣

I believe they didn't start using the adjusting bolt setup until 1984. I'm sure someone with an H/O can correct that, but I believe 83's came with the standard hold down bolt on the bottom of the alternator ear.

Here's an underhood shot of that 391 mile example.

And here's that 4K mile survivor 84 H/O for comparison. My 11E build 1984 H/O #19 came with the adjuster bolt setup but yet still had the 83 style belt routing (changed up in mid-December), so if it did happen in 83 model year run, it was at the tail end of it. There's still a nut on the backside of that swivel on the bottom ear, so it still bolts down the same. Just the adjuster bolt makes it easier to tighten the belt.

That makes sense. Only worked on a couple of 84 and up Olds powered cars.

I'll let y'all know how it turns out if I am successful at making one sometime in the near future.
In the meantime, if anyone happens to see one or finds one, please grab it for me.
Thanks all,
