OLDS Alternator mount adjustment "anvil"

Is this the part?

Is this the part?

Nope. That's the swivel bolt the long screw goes through. It is the part that goes in the adjustment slot and the bottom ear of the alternator. Looks like it's mislabeled.

You could use that, but you have to drill out the threads. Then you have to cut the bolt for two e-clips front and back. That will anchor the bolt and it will spin and make the adjustment.

Yet, to do that you also have to put in a spacer, and a very strong e-clip, because that is where the pressure will be. So a better method would be to put a nut on it and tig that nut to where it needs to be with an eclip or tigged nut on the other side to keep the adjusting bolt from falling out.

That way your adjustment bolt will spin and the nut that's on that end can handle the pressure. It's a bit of a Jerry rig but it would work.

It's quite simpler than that. Unless I read what you were writing the wrong way. The swivel has through-threads for the bolt. That's what moves up and down the bolt as the bolt simply turns left or right on the stop.

#10 is that piece shown earlier. The "adjuster". Bolt screws through that thing. End of bolt rests on #9, the stop.

Thx for the illustration Mike! #9 is the part I need (and will likely have to fabricate).

No, going along with what you said. To make that work as the bottom piece that's about the only way. Of course best is to get the correct piece and be done with it. The top unit has to have threads or you have a non working piece of junk.

I am trying to figure out what the hell you are talking about, but I have failed.

I have EVERYTHING except for #9 in the illustration that 69hurstolds posted. I need the #9 piece. That's it. I will make/fabricate one since no one has one and it can't be found in a junkyard (so far).

That's what I'm looking for ... for you. Rained last two days... So mud mess. I'll be out in AM, letting things dry out a bit today, but I will be out in AM tomorrow and look for you.

If I can't find it... I will draft up something for you that will work. If I have to, I will build you a bracket and send it.

Ok thanks a bunch. And can you decipher your previous post as it relates to me?🤣
