I agree with you if this engine was on it's last legs but this engine as stated in the add has about 20k on it since it's rebuild. The op has been a member for a long time and has always been a straight shooter as far as I have seen or read for that matter. If the engine had any issues I believe the op would have disclosed them so I the engine that is for sale should have 10's of thousand of miles to go before another rebuild is needed. I would view a rebuilt engine with 20k on it a better bet than a fresh rebuilt with no miles on it if buying used and not from the builder where you would have a warranty.

Hey, then for a member on here it makes sense for sure, he is known, he is trusted etc etc, but for an outsider looking at a Craigslist add..... ?
That's all I was trying to say, for someone looking at it without knowing the OP, its possibly an unusable core.
Hence my response to a possible reason it hasn't sold privately at the $500 price tag.
Either way, I hope the guy gets full pop for it if its indeed a good runner.

I aggree with your point with the add on craigslist ....money to play with is tight these days too so that doesn't help either..

I have found that once they are .60 over they become hard to sell. Even if it was just done. Paper work helps but still a tough sell. People get weary when you say .60 over when buying from private party even if that's what they are looking for. I had a fresh .60 over 455 Pontiac block I tried to sell a year back and it took forever. Every one wanted a stock bore to rework to .60 over. Go figure :blam:

Alright engine sold today, 500$.

Thanks for all the input guys, now as far as the 0.060 over being a thin line, yeah i agree i can see that. However i did have paperwork with the engine from the shop in SC, and i mean it really is a SOLID runner, all the parts + stand she was worth 500$. It's a shame though because the guy is going to use it as a circle track engine, it had all the goodies to be a kickass daily driver.

Oh and i'm up in PA right now not NC lol, yeah i wouldn't expect someone to drive 10 hours for a SBC 350 shortblock. You'd be more in cost of gas lol

Its a hard sell because its an unusable core. First, its a 360ci SBC, not a 358, second, its no longer rebuildable at 0.060 over.
So its a crap shoot for someone.
You might get lucky with someone that needs the roller set up, the unknown cam makes even that a stretch.
I would change the add to feature the roller set up, the one head, the new water pump, and hell, even the engine stand. Then I would list it at $350 firm. It will go.

^Not to be rude but that kind've pissed me off and here's why.

A 350 bored 060 over is a 358, do you're homework friend.
An unusable core? i had paperwork to go with the engine, it was basically a NEW bottom end and you wouldn't have any problems if built right. Second, if the engine did blow up and say only spun a main bearing, how is the block then shot too?

A crap shoot? No, get real and look at what you're buying for sucks sake.

As far as the roller setup goes, yeah it was basically unknown as to what it was, all i know is the cam profile was similar/matched to what went into camaros from the late 80's.

Well i've got to see this muncie M22 i've got, then i'm hittin' the road. 😀

A .060" over 350 is actually a 360.42 not a 358. Even if it was an "unusable core" that was a damn good deal for $500! Glad to hear you got your asking price for it.

Roller set ups are more maintenance??

sorry, should have said FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD roller setups are a little more maintenance.... i dont know... this motor i have now is my first roller... but i was told they are a little more maintenance in that you have to keep an eye on them cause if a roller stops rolling you could be fuct but i dont really know... comp cams recomends regular checking of their full roller rockers because the fulcrum bearing they use can "come apart"... at least thats what the guy at comp cams told me when i was debating going with full roller rockers...
