I’m currently on the hunt for a 84-88 Monte Carlo SS for a resto mod project. Im not looking for a car that is perfect or even runs. I’d be more than happy with a roller, just want a good platform. I have $3000 readily available, is that that a lowball amount for the car I’m looking for?

I live in eastern Tennessee
Anything in TN costs more than say NC/SC/GA.

Even if you went across state lines, for 3k you're probably getting a roller that needs a dashpad replaced, carpet cleaned or replaced, sagging headliner, and worn/faded seats. Likely will have some rust on the door lips, and maybe underneath, and DEFINITELY will need paint.

Don't know if this is still available or not. As of 10/12/23 it was. Car was stated it was in CT, was asking 3K. I know nothing, I see nothing. Not mine nor any interest in finding out more.

Gutted, stripped rollers are 4K and up in this market on the rare occasions that any are for sale. Typically they’ve all been dorked with to varying degrees and are 12 K and up for so-so drivers

When I was looking at Jr.'s ride here in western Pa I was looking into a '85 SS & a clone. Both around $3500. The SS was soild looking, ran, had bad panels replaced but needed the interior finished, didn't include the wheels but was avalible for an additional cost & had an aftermarket sun roof. The clone was a dressed up pig than needed a frame.
