Am I Overheating??Maybe Thermostats??

Pontiac455 & DRIVEN, thanks for the info, i will def put one in, my buddy gave me a new one he had lying around, so i will give that a shot, and change the theremo probe sensor, i think thats it... I did notice when i plug the wire to the thermo sensor how it has a black ring on top of it, it moves back and forth like broke, so i think its throwing off my sensor to turn my fans on??

But where can i just get a thermo sensor probe that will turn on my fans at 180.. All i need is the probe that goes into the block/intake..Thanks guys

Nah i dont have the adjustable one, just regular relay go control both fans.. Thanks for the link tho 🙂
 
If you use a 180* thermostat your engine will probably actually run about 185*...which is just fine. If you set up your fans to turn on at about 195*-200* you should be just about perfect. Newer EFI vehicles run in the 210*-220* range and do just fine. Carbureted cars don't like running that warm. It won't hurt them to run up to 225*, it just boils the fuel and makes them run horrible. The problem with running too cool is poor combustion which equals lost mpg and performance. It's a balance.

Yes!! i think its boiling the fuel, and making it hard to start after i have been driving around for a good while...ok ok so i will try putting in the thermostat in the water neck that my buddy gave me, then get a new probe sensor to the intake...and go from there, hopefully this will work..thanks buddy 😀
