Ya, find a good aluminum welder and he'll know what to do. i had my aluminum intake repaired by an aluminum welder and he fixed a crack and a broken water port and did a beautiful job.

Problem is finding somewhere around here to do it. Also I'm interested in the iron midplate. Anyone have any feedback on this

All in all I am disapointed it happened but I look at it as another opportunity to upgrade something that wasn't as I have already turned every other stone.

I agree with Driven but if it's going to play with your mind if you leave it like it is have it welded or replace the housing...and if the housing is an upgrade then I'd be looking at the damage as an omen .. 🙂

An omen as in replace or other bad things may happen. I just feel it sitting in the back of my mind if I don't replace it now

I'm in the same boat....my transmission should be able to handle it but if I hate thinking that it's going to go kaboom when I abuse the car a little. I even have a spare transmission that takes an hour to drop in but it's the waiting for the shoe to drop is what bugs me...

Its funny how you and i think alike so much lol. same ignition and all lol. Im really debating just going all in on this thing since it will be apart already. Supercase, Iron mid plate, Super tail housing and maybe a roller side cover. I mean hell why not lol. Whats another $600 in a car that surpassed its budget in 2008. Its not a #'s matching vette so theres no need to worry about value. I rather be able to beat on it a little without gremlins in the back of my mind. I think no matter what ill replace the case since its only $245

Probably worth the piece of mind. The parts you replace still have value so you can recoup some of your investment if you sell the spares.

I welded the ear back on my th350 because it's hard to find BOP transmission's around here. I would have rather just gotten a new case. haunted me until i grenaided that transmission and am building another new one.

Hi for me to do such a think like alum ear your looking at a hour or so with time to prep all of it more like a $50 bill. But if you like u can try the Durafix rods look up on youtube.

Hi it is cast alum and is very dirty with other metals.Hard to weld if you don't know how and you are going to need the bell to bold it to and help it stay in line. And yes i am a welder by trade and weld cast cases.

And how much would you get for such a service. I'm kind of leaning towards the super case because I have to empty it anyways

looks interesting but i dont think i would trust it.
