DX is the designation for the 350 olds diesel block. It's a really beefy block that can be bored and stroked out to 430+ cubes. Highly doubt it though. Most diesel cars were scrapped long ago. Betting it's a 307 or a smogger 350. it is most certainly an oldsmobile though.
o ok lol

It's an Olds small block...look for a single raised number(possibly with a letter) on the exterior left bottom corner of each head, to the left of the outer spark plug hole. You can cross reference that.

Check the oil fill tube, there should be a # stamped in it. First digit should be year of manufacture.
Check casting # on front of block, just behind water pump. Clean the crud off around the distributor mounting area, there's a date code cast into the block there.
Post up the large # on the front of the heads by #1 spark plug. Should be a single number (5,7,8) or possibly a large # with a smaller letter beside it (7a). Your heads have the earlier 10 bolt valve covers, so that eliminates some heads right off. (ie; late model small valve smog heads)
heads can be changed out though, so don't go by that reference alone.
Later Olds V8's had the displacement cast into the side of the block, look there too.

On the passenger side, in between the frost plugs, on later small blocks, you'll have raised #s with a 307, 350, 403...not sure about 260 though...

Pretty sure my 260 has a big 260 on the side. My 403 has 403 on one side and a big X on the other. There is a big 5L on the 307 blocks.

blah blah blah blah blah

So what are the chances that someone will look at the engine and confirm what it is by finding the numbers instead of having more pages of it's an Olds engine.
