Any New Yorkers here? Car insurance question

I have a car insurance question for you guys.

-What company do you use and how much?
-I'm 18, new driver, and live on Long Island.
-Cannot be classic insurance because I'm not 25.
-Car is a 1987 Regal T Type V8 (307) has factory alarm if that makes a difference lol..
-I'm on my own with car insurance, trying to find the cheapest ones, been looking.. not so cheap! (State minimum also)
-Cheapest I was told was $338/mo with $600+ down. Not so affordable for a college student working a little over minimum wage haha, I could get away with <225/mo

Just got quoted $226/mo from Commerce Insurance around $2,800/yr, getting there.

Try Progressive, till you are over 25 you will have a high insurance rate. If you have a bad license track take the 6hr course and get the 10% deduction.

There is no legal way for you to get cheaper in NY for your age even with the minimum insurance on the car. 🙁

OMG!! :shock: im glad i live in Texas if that makes any difference. i got my license when i was 18 and got liability on my cutlass and it was only like $35. No money down. Good luck finding a good price.

Get AAA they will give a discount plus you take the 6hr course another discount and they can get find you the cheapest insurance they can through there insurance dept.I live in LI as well but I'm 13 years older I pay for my monte $97 a year and for my 2010 traverse I pay $557 every 6 months for full coverage $50,000-$100,000 coverage.

Progressive was like $600+/mo
Will probably do that 6hr class just to save 10% (I have a clean record)
It really sucks that I gotta wait until I'm 25 for cheap insurance

Car Insurance is a Scam in New York. I Live in the Bronx and I Pay $145 a Month and I got an 85 Cutlass Supreme.
The Rates these Companies Hand out is Ridiculous.
