any opinions on this color change?

everything was done "in car" with vinyl paint and upolstry dye. the dash is a flat white. the pictures dont really do it justice tho, it actually pops pretty nice in person. i might change the bezels to another color in the future, i just wanted to see what black and white would look like. any suggestions? after i re-do the exterior paint, im thinking about doing some sort of decals or graphics on the exterior in a deep orange-ish/red so i was thinking about doing the bezels something simular but im open to ideas.

Since you asked, I'm not a big fan of custom mix-n-match interiors myself. I get a warm fuzzy quality feeling looking at a plain old factory interior done in factory colors. As soon as you start putting in aftermarket steering wheels, branded floormats, different color door panels and seats, custom trim pieces, spray-on versus molded-in color, the quality and integrity take a hit and it starts looking molested to me. Just my opinion, because you asked. Decals or graphics on the exterior? I think I've said enough...

lol im quite the opposite. theres ALOT i love about these cars, but theres also alot i figure could look better/newer/modernized. i grew up pretty poor and had to take older junk and fix it up otherwise i went without, so i guess thats where i got my ambition to "customize" everything i own lol also it gets old (imo) looking at the same boring red or blue dash with old wood-grain bezels. ive owned 9 cutlass/regals and i think aside from the first 2, every one had something custom done to it. anyone can own a cutlass, but now no-one has one like mine :wax:

also the decals i mentioned weren't fast and furious style or anything, i just meant a nice pin-strip along the side with a little design on the end. anything a little different than the ordinary 2 thin stripes...

I've gone back and looked at it a couple times trying to put my finger on what seems "off" to me about the dash. Maybe the white on black is too much contrast. Kind of gives me a Star Wars / Buck Rodgers vibe. Have you considered something textured like the engine turned finish used on some of the '70s Firebirds? Others have suggested silver or maybe nickle. That might look good too. I've really gotten in to black chrome finish lately. Sinister.

Ha ha well, as long as it makes you happy, that's all that matters. I've got the ordinary 2 thin stripes in red to match the red interior and I'm happy as a clam. Of course, I, like you, have something unique. Nobody who has a grandpa looking car like mine leaves it alone, so my factory original look is ultra-rare these days. 🙂 Good luck and have fun with it.

i guess to each their own. i figure why have a car nobody even looks twice at when you can have something that turns heads every corner. my and my gf laugh at how many people through-out our day will come out of their way to come tell me "nice car man". i suppose its all about what you want out of the vehicle. i like cuttys cause you can take a car that wasnt necessarily a muscle car, and for a couple hundred bucks, turn it into something that looks track worthy 😉 then again even if i owned a Tempo, i'd probaly throw some boots on it and find a hood scoop...its just what i do...is there anyone that thinks i should have just left it alone and kept the grey/green??

Dash and door panel looks good. The alum is a little to bright but it might be the flash of the camara.I don't like the stearing wheel. How do you think carbon fiber trim would look. Your the only one that has to like it. I think the 79 to 81 G body wheel is the best. Good luck with the rest of your build.

You're absolutely right, it's a great design. It lend's itself well to the muslce car era tricks and everybody loves them. 🙂

Seriously, you have to do what makes you happy, if you like your mods, that's all that matters. I will say, I think you did a fantastic job on the door, I wouldn't have been able to tell anything was changed, which is what I specifically look for. It's not that I'm opposed to mods, I just like things that look like the factory made it, I equate that with quality.
