Any Value to Old Magazines Anymore?

I have a big pile of them here as well. Pretty much in the same position as Wraith. Don't know what to do with them, but hate to recycle them.

Couple of years ago it took a while to sell my collection of 70's to 90's car magazines. All I got was one reply, $20 for about 60 lbs of paper. I doubt I'll ever sell my Guitar Player collection ranging from the mid 70's to 90's.
Now what to do with my automotive dealer brochures 70's to mid 90's, heavy on GM? I tried advertising but seems no one was interested in the 80's to 90's pickups.

I have more than a few Rubbermaid bins stuffed with magazines. I really want to get them bound and put on a shelf - it just isn't a priority project. TEN is digitally scanning/producing their periodicals now - so back issues are available, just don't know how far back. The funny thing is HRM has their 20, 30, 40 year review of the magazine monthly and I am seeing the magazines that triggered my enthusiasm now; it also means I am old.

I too prefer paper to anything especially in the bathroom. Even now my oldest daughter is grabbing mags out of the rack and reading them while on the can. Gotta make the hobby accessible if you want them to become enthusiastic about cars.

I have thought of donating many of mine to the library. They sell off many donated books and magazines (twice a year) that people have given to them. It's a worthwhile cause and helps sustain the library system in our town.
Many of my earlier mags were given away or recycled years ago. Some of which I regret getting rid of.

There was a few places in Tucson AZ called Bookman's where you could trade in books, magazines, etc for store credit or a get few dollars. I use to bring up my last few months copies of magazines I did not want and build up my store credit to buy books, cd's, etc. Then when the economy started to struggle the store stopped selling new magazines and bestseller books and went strictly used. Everyone was trading in stuff so I could not even get rid of my car magazines that were in really good condition. I would make the trip up there a few times a year with a box of books, magazines and stopped going when most of the stuff was not wanted due to everyone else bringing the same stuff. But it was nice exchanging my old mags and books while it lasted. Helped keep my junk pile in check! lol

A friend of mine told me he used to donate his old Hot Rod Magazines to the local VA hospital...which is another noble cause. However, he's gotten calls from people asking for more magazines. Well, it turns out that he didn't remove or obliterate his name and address from the magazines. That would be the first thing I would do in any case.

I'd donate mine but they use a 'bathroom sensor' and won't take them.
This sensor I'm referring to is from a Seinfeld episode

What's everyone else doing with theirs?

They are giving them to me. 😛

I am planning a road trip to Plano later this year to visit a friend. Perhaps I'll have to swing by your place and take these off your hands at that time. Can you hold onto them for a few more months?

I have 8-9 bins full of car mags from the late 70's until now. I still buy 2 every month since I can't stand reading from my computer. Especially in the bathroom. I have started cutting out and scanning all the articles and adds I want to keep for reference and organizing them in my computer. It's long and tedious since I keep re-reading them at the same time.
