View attachment 68729 View attachment 68731 I did it last year on my El Camino. While I would have loved a full-on resto repaint, the timing wasn't right. Instead I settled on a satin clear over a really old repaint. The first photo is after I went over it with CLR and gray Scotchbrite pads. The paint was so burned out that it was chalky and almost silver. The CLR/Scotchbrite/elbow grease combo got me through the oxidation and down to original paint in some areas. Every car has a story and I didn't want to hide anything. We worked out a few dents the best we could and welded up a hole in the roof where my wife's grandpa had put in a CB antenna. Otherwise it's all there to see. I can't remember the exact product name now but it came as a kit with a gallon of clear and a quart of reducer. There was a ratio chart that allowed you to adjust flat to shine by the amount of reducer used. If I were doing it again I would have gone just a little glossier.
