anyone else buying up parts before tariffs hit?

Recently acquired a project GN, which I was hoping to work on very slowly. But I feel under the gun to buy up parts now before they ultimately go up in price because of the tariffs. Anyone else feel the same, or just who cares and deal with the price increase down the road?

As an aside, I was putting off some house renovations, and now regret it as building material prices have shot up at home depot due to tariffs. Whether or not the tariffs are being enforced is yet to be seen, however retailers are surely padding their margins even more.

While I have loads of parts I scooped up when RockAuto has clearances, they never are what I need at the moment. I don't see price hikes just yet on RA, but as time goes by I'm sure they will. Check out this random fishing rod I made an order for at TEMU just to see. YIKES!!!!

no, i'm buying parts when i need them as soon as i get the job lined up like for this summer. that said who knows what the deals are going to be. i just hope when things are settled we get better possibly US made reliable parts that aren't controlled by private equity firms & over seas slave factory junk that fail out of the box.

I really do try and stick to famous American brands. MOOG, PENN, RIGID, LINCOLN. But they have been offshoring too.

I work part-time at auto-parts store. Moog has multiple countries supplying the same part; from Brazil to Turkey to Vietnam, etc

I wonder about these tariffs... a certain engine performance place has a 383 longblock that they consider their "bread and butter" engine that i've been keeping an eye on for when im ready to go that route, and for the past two years when i first found out about them. that price was $6200, then all of a sudden over the span of just TWO months, it jumped to $7100 in price, and its not BP. 👎

All new parts... roller, thicker block, pre clearenced for stroker cranks, priority mains oiling system, head bolt holes that do not enter the water jacket, 4bolt mains, forged crank, forged rods, hyperutectic pistions, their own cam grinds for the power evel you choose, 180cc aluminum heads, aluminum full roller rockers, 2.02/1.60 valves, 4.00 bore with 3.80 stroke, unlike BP's 4.00 bore with 3.75 stroke, 377cid.

Their wheel bearings are the WORST. Won't touch them. Ball joints and steering bits from the Problem Silver line seem alright. But wheel bearings that can't survive a single weekend on track? Pass.

I have been doing control arms w/ball joints lately on newer cars. Moog has been fine with those. But wheel bearing hubs- OMG. All off brands have failed except Timkin and AC DELCO. Those soldier on.

Haven't bothered with it...
Most vendors I use have minimum product coming from foreign shores/land..

And it seems most leaders cave before anything seriously happens... Not to say the threats aren't proverbial hand grenades and dont shake things up..
