anyone else had bad experiences with Rockauto ?

A few years ago I ordered some parts while on vacation in Texas, USPS screwed up the delivery by sending the parts to the wrong address.
Rockauto offered to resend them but I was due to fly back to the UK the following day so they simply refunded my card for the full amount. When I checked my bank statement I found they did it within 3 hours of my call.

So like most of the posts here I have nothing but praise for them, they have a good reputation in the UK, and when ordering parts they give us the full price including international shipping.

But nobody's perfect, I wouldn't let one bad experience put me off.

Roger.

Wow never heard anything bad about rock auto. I been using them for a lot of years excellant customer service.

i guess bad luck just follows me these days. Either way, my debit card is blocked from their site, so I can't just try shopping there again. I was looking forward to seeing how much money I would save with them.
I saw some really low prices on some parts on there, that really shocked me. Seems they make all their money on shipping.

Just a tip on the shipping thing; When you get to the shopping cart page it will show "shipping location A, shipping location B," etc. Each location will have a separate shipping charge. If you order 4 items, they could all come from different warehouses. Sometimes you can select a slightly more expensive part but save a shipping charge because it comes from the same location as one of your other cart items. You may pay $1.50 more for the part but end up saving $10 on shipping. Often times when I'm shopping I'll select 2 or 3 of the same item and drop them in the cart. Then when I'm done I'll delete duplicate items that come from separate locations to get the lowest shipping prices. Make sense?

PS. Don't forget the discount codes. They are easy to find online.

I have ordered several items from RockAuto. I have a nice stack of bills. Never any problems, always respected the order.
Once, a sake of poor quality material (Timing light) and RockAuto has immediately process the replacement.

For me who lives in France, RockAuto (among others) is a relief. I can order parts for my car directly to the USA, without a service provider or intermediate French.
+ a very good point: because it was one of the first to accept Paypal payments from abroad.
- Minus a point: when for an order of several items, the shipment is from different warehouses. In this case I changed my article for a sending from the same warehouse, if possible.

I appreciate also be able to choose between USPS or Fedex or UPS.

I also do like Driven and Sebastian. It's all about getting the cheapest shipping possible. I've even found better deals on JC Whitney and Advance when I can score free shipping. I still don't understand why they blacklisted you and why you just can't start over, or maybe get a friend to order for you.

I have never had any bad experiences with rock auto. My parts have always arrived quickly and correct. Sucks to hear about your negative situation with them. Hopefully everything gets worked out.

Never had any issues; they're actually close enough that if I need to order large things I can just drive there w/o too much fuss to save on shipping. A little off topic but years ago I had trouble with JC Whitney (when they still went by the Warshawsky) on rear springs for my 66 Impala; a quick talk with the supervisor and attitude changed VERY fast & I got my springs the next day.

With the multiple address submittal you're locked but why they can't reset your info or wipe it clean and allow you to start over is kind of goofy. :?

I have purchased parts for all different type of cars , trucks , and bikes with absoulutely No problem whatsoever. Rock Auto Rocks!!!!!!
