Q Walt

Yeah, I got a personalized tag on my '85 Cut. I put my nickname on it "Q Walt". 8) It took almost 4 months for me to get it, and I got harassed daily by the police until it came. I think I'm going to put "Q Dub" on the '83 Cut's tag, but I won't drive it until the tag comes.

Personalized Plate

When I had a 63 Falcon with v-8 running gear and a 300 six engine, and was bracket racing it, I had BIGSIX on it. However that was kind of a porno star plate. It later (in California) had DGRLUVR (Dodger lover) then back in Nevada had a Street Rod plate. By then it had a hot 289 and C-4 in it.

My G-Body Olds Cutlass with a .030 over 87 4-bolt 350 with good double hump heads with 2.02/1.6 valves, 10:1 CR, forged flat top pistons, Isky cam, and Wiand Stealth intake with a 600 Holley and an HEI custom advance ignition, Hedman Headers and yep, no cat(s) and glasspacks, a 2004-R and (almost) a 10 bolt 8.5 3.42 with posi and 30 spline axles and SS Machine upper and lower lift bars. Now it is pretty hot, a great road cruiser and has a Veteran's Plate. I highly recommend for Vets to get a Veterans Plate as I have never gotten a ticked with one. Most Highway Patrolmen are ex-service and just give you a warning. Since I live in a rural part of Nevada where the speed limit is 70 and the car loves to go 90, I have to watch it.

Regards,

Alanco

Here in WI it's $70/year, which is plenty too.

I've got "CLSIC GM" on my '82 Cutlass.

I mentioned this last time a thread about personalised plates came up....soem insurance companies will reduce yoru premium if you have personalised plates since those plates are considered a theft deterant as they are eaiser to spot ....the flip side is that they are easier to spot when your just out having a bit of fun... :?

Very true - but the cars we are driving are not commonplace anymore either. So just the fact you are driving a 20 year old car in nice shape kind of makes it stand out on it's own 8)

Yeah how true! Yesterday I was driving my 78 elky which has "vintage" plates. I came over a hill on a parkway and a county police car was in front of me in the right lane. I slowed a bit so not to climb up on him but I could see him looking at my elky in his rearview mirror. He then moved over to the left lane and slowed down forcing me to pass on the right. I was sure to make eye contact when I passed slowly so he didn't think I was hiding anything. I got off the next exit. Not because he was watching me but it just so happened to be where I was going. Next thing he's behind me with his lights flashing. After waiting a minute or two he walks up to the car and tells me he stopped me for expired registration! I give him my reggy, ins. card, and license. registration expires 08/2007. He checks the sticker on the windshield which also shows the expiration date of 08/07 and the plate #. Tells me to wait there. A few minutes later he calls me to his cruiser to inform me my car doesn't exist and the registration expired 20 yrs ago! I politely asked him how could that be since he was holding the registration in his hand and it wasn't a fake. He told me to get the car off the road and go to DMV because someone must have made a mistake. So, I took the car home, got in my GP and went to DMV. Paid $9 in tolls + gas and $4 parking. Waited about 1/2 hour to speak to the woman at the enforcement window who looked up my plate and said nothing was wrong! I explained to her how the officer said the plates expired 20 years ago and she yes they did! But they were reissued as "vintage" this past september and the officer must not have known how to check them properly on his computer that links to DMV. Then she asked me why didn't he either impound the car or ticket me if he was so convinced? I said I don't know, he just told me to get it off the road. She seemed to think he may have caught his mistake but didn't want to admit to making one.

watch he gets fired because he didn't ticket you lol! it is kind of a weird thought that even the newest g-bodies are 18 yrs old. well technically 19 when you take into consideration that they were made in 87.
