I just got my pan I odered and it doesn't look like I was expecting it to. It's the street strip pan out of summit. I was wondering if anyone was running one on there car and how well it keeps the oil off the crank under hard acceleration? I bought it to replace my old one because my oil pressure would drop under hard acceleration due to no baffles. I'm worried this is one is gonna do the same. If someone could tell me how well it works on their car I would be extremely grateful.

I have a 7 quart milodon street and strip pan on my SBC. It needs a windage tray cause under hard acceleration the oil pressure drops, the oil gets frothed up by the crank. I don't know if that helps you since I don't have a BBO

I tried but I had no success. Would that just be a safe bet? How exactly does the windage tray work?

you change some of the main cap bolts to a bolt with a stud on it. the windage tray is fastened with nuts on the studs. This is just a sample, your kit would have more studs I think

If yer gonna change from main bolts to studs, I would recommend a line bore for sure. My buddy installed main studs while building his 383. Told him it wouldnt be me. After a week he started losing oil pressure and after a month she had to come apart.

I just bought a windage tray with the stud kit for the main caps. Pontiac 455 what do you mean you recommend a line bore? My motor is pretty much brand new with only 4500 miles or so.

Main studs have different clamping forces than bolts. You can't just replace them without a line bore as you run the risk of causing the bore to go out of round which in turn can destroy your engine. It's the same reason you have the rod big end resized anytime you replace bolts.

For what it's worth, most of the Olds racers will run the deeper pans but still put just the stock 5 qts in. This helps keep the oil away from the crank.

If you don't mind me asking FE3X CLONE how are you kepping from the oil splashing on your crank?
