Anyone Seen 1 of These This Before?

I saw plenty of them with the 2.8L, and with it's likeness to blow head gaskets......

2.8 engines were.... what they were. Much worse than HGs was the tendency to spin bearings, particularly in cold start situations with over-revving.

Poor factory design with insufficient oiling killed many a s10 and fbody in those days. Some got 350s, most got scrapped.

I had an ext cab '89 4wd with a 2.8 and a stick shift. Wasn't too bad actually, just had zero torque. Sold it with 228k. I had to pull the intake to do gaskets because of a severe oil leak. Ended up it wasn't the gaskets, but the o ring in the distributor that was the cause. Only thing the engine had ever been apart.

Nope

Reminds me of those toyota campers and uhaul trucks from the 80's and early 90's. My buddy has a dually toyota rear from one of those, he was going to put it in an S10 and build a flatbed for it, but never got around to it, so the rear has just been sitting around for years. Has some odd bolt pattern, looks like a wide five style bolt pattern you see on a lot of oval track cars, but I think it's actually 6 lugs, I think that was part of why it never got done.
