are there any master cylinder upgrades for our cars?

I too swapped a caprice master cyl and in worked pretty good but u r right, stock, the brakes on my 80 monte scare me sometimes. Especially going from a weak 350 to an ls swap. I know for sure the one thing that has saved me a couple of times were the 17 wheel/tire combo.

how wide a tire are you using? did you have the stock steelies before the upgrade? i have them and i hate them.

they're no different than other g-body brakes ive driven. like i said, i just think they're too soft. i like a firm pedal. stock g-bodies do not have a firm pedal in my opinion. so you dont think stock g-bodies have a mushy pedal, good for you. doesnt mean everyone else shares your opinion or if theirs differs from yours they're stupid and dont know how to work on brakes.

I've owned several G body cutlass' and have to agree with G body enthusiast....Most of them had too much pedal travel and a spongy feel. Some of them were low mileage cars. I'm interested in hearing more about your B body master swap...let us know what you come up with.

im running 235/45/17 and yeah they were the stock 14 in steel wheels. I could lock those up real quick on wet roads. These yet to lock up on me and Ive had a couple of close calls(need to stop tweeting and facebook, Yeah right, like i would actually have either of those apps on my phone  ) I even tried a little test on some back road as it was lightly raining going 35mph and the car didnt skid. But I would love to get a bigger brake kit cause the stopping distance left much to be desired

thats why i got 17x8 wheels. i dont have tires for them yet but i'll have those fairly soon. i dont like having what i feel are pretty small tires on a car this size. now currently i have 205/70/14 in the front and 215/70/14in the back and i guess they arent that much smaller from a 235-245/45/17 in width but every little bit helps and that helps braking as well as handling. tire selection for the 14's just isnt what it use to be either. i can find way more options for a 17" wheel.

i'm not sure what all i have finished by the end of this year on the car but i should have the bigger wheels and tires and hopefully the slightly bigger blazer brakes. now i just checked for a 2000 blazer and they're showing a 1" bore for the master cylinder so i'm guessing i dont really need the extra volume from a larger master cylinder but like i said the pedal effort now just isnt there but it would make the pedal feel a little better to me. i havent really decided what bigger brakes to use just yet for front and rear i just know i want disc on the rear and something around 12" for rotors in the front. LS rotors are 12 x 1.25" and that's a nice meaty rotor to have on the car so a LS rotor C5 caliper combo might be the way to go. as for the rear i just want disc but i dont know which ones to use. maybe LS to make it a matching set. i'm not sure how well mixing and matching has worked for others so if others would chime in on this that'd be awesome.

also i forgot to ask what booster did you have before the swap? i have the 9" dual diaphragm now and it came with the car when i bought it. i'm glad it wasnt the single.
