Kinda glad i hoard up parts never know when you'll need them. Every now and then I run across a old carbed clunker for parts in a junkyard. A few weeks ago my buddy was talkin to this dude at the gas station I figured it was someone he knew from years ago, turns out the guy was very friendly gave my buddy his card. The guy owns a scrapyard and does'nt scrap cars with good parts until they are stripped clean, yep it's out of state for me but not that far 30 min drive or less, just ain't made it down there yet. Can't wait to go but seems I always sleep too late,no funds or the weather. Some of you guys know I have a few projects other than my Malibu, well I ran across a deal I could'nt refuse, I already have a 86 GMC longbed I picked up for $350, I figured i'd make it a shop truck to tow, haul, take to the scrap and junkyards etc... My other buddy owns a machine shop always gettin great deals on engines, parts etc... some one brought in around a 90 or so 454 TBI so I picked it up for $750, hey it would be perfect for my shop truck for pullin stuff. My other buddy hates the 86 longbed wants me to scrap it, so a guy he works with is very new to toolin and he and his buddy do their first engine swap did a few things wrong, busted the pump in the trans, gets tired of it finds another later model truck wants to sell his, so I go check it out says he wants $500 for it get him down to $400 this guy does'nt know what he has but he set the price. Don't get me wrong it needs a lot of work but the truck is a roller (no motor or trans) 85 short box chevy factory loaded power everthing winders, locks tilt, cruise, air, no rust no major body damage at all, even a tow hitch which I hope he left on it, and was orig. a 6.2 deisel so I'm pickin it up this Saturday. I'm undecided if the londbed stays or not, may rob parts off it for the short bed and patch it together or just sell it after I get what I need off it, just don't have the heart to scrap a car or truck unless it was a import which I don't own any. So now I will have 6 project vehicles well at least half of them has new engines and or transmissions in them now see what I mean about hoardin lol.

Parts are getting a bit more difficult to find therefore getting expensive. A year ago you could get a 1/4 glass for a g body malibu for 35 to 50. Now I see them for 75 to 95 on average. Npd and opgi are starting to carry parts as well as forum sponsors but obviously more costly. But at least you would get a new part.

In 2010 I bought my bu for 1500. I've seen them go for 3000 as mentioned here earlier as of late. Some don't look as good as mine for the price.

I guess it's not a bad thing. These g bodies are gaining more popularity as they get more rare.
