Avins 85 cutlass build

hey guys new to the site..i bought an 85 cutlass last summer.not to sure about the history all i now is the previous owner changed the original olds engine because his wife over heated the engine. he then put a chevy 350 and was working on the car was getting it ready for paint and decided to sell it for medical reasons. cutlass has always been my dream car since i was real young cuz my mom owned a t-top. so i knew when i had my own it had to be t-top. after it sitting in a garage all winter i took it to the body shop. then and fixing all the little dents on removing rust from the exterior. the doors and hood had alot of rust on the inside so i figured the previous owner did alot of bondo work. so i bought new doors and hood.. today i shopped by shop and saw that alot of body work has been done. i also picked my paint colors im going to 2 tone it. similar to a cutlass video i seen a while ago. silver top grey bottom. also i plan on getting a tune up because. while im driving it and say im at a red light it tends to stall on me and shut off. also acceleration is horrible on it. another thing is when i put it on reverse i have to basically put the pedal to the ground for it to start to reverse. so there are some issues it needs work on and figure out what is causing it. if anyone knows where i can start that would help alot. this is not a show car is basically a daily driver and cruising car.. hope to update soon with more pictures

The car looks awesome and i like the colors you chose. Anything out of the norm you've done or gonna do to it? Keep us updated.

And that interior is awful. I think i threw up in mouth a little when i first saw em. Was that originally in your car or just parts you picked up?

no way ..that was never in my car. i bought the doors off some guy selling the doors and interior, cuz my original doors were really rusted out. i dont plan on doing to much just a regular nice dailey driver while the snows gone. just need to fix up the engine cuz the car doesnt run all that good. install exhaust or extended it out cuz its cut off right under the seats and u smell the exhaust come up thru the seats. also just replace the shitty 6x9 speakers in the back and install the lower door panel with build in hole for door speakers with new stereo

plan on redoing interior next year its a real dark burgundy brougham. i want grey interior with black pipeing..

plan on installing rims next year to nothing big maybe 18' 0r 20' like image below.

here an update i got it back like a week ago for my birth day. not as excited cuz i had to rush the painter since he had it for over 2 months and only worked on it for like 3 weeks totoal.. but im taking it back tomorrow for wet sanding and add a black pin stripe to divide the 2 different colors

also i added trim to bumpers. change a few pieces of cracked interior t-top trim.. the same day i picked it up from paint shop i took it to my mechanic and he did a tune up. changed all belts and cracked tubing. also did a trans service. replaced trans fluid and filter. i changed thermostat and gasket. also radiator cap because temp light is on now. but doesnt over heat that i can tell. im guessing since its still on its probably a bad sensor...

Looks great. Love the colors. I feel your pain with your painter, seems like it always takes longer than it should.
