So I ordered a Rochester E2ME carb for my cutlass. The one I got has 2 plug sockets for wire harnesses to plug into. A blue one on top and a white one on the side. My old carb does not have these. Can someone please confirm to me the obvious? I got the computerized one when I need the non computerized one and this one will not work without those harnesses hooked up to it right??? Just wanted confirmation before I send this piece back. Thanks guys.

I'm pretty thoroughly confused. My cutlass is a 1981 231 v6. I read somewhere that 81 and up were all ECM carbs, but mine does not have the electronic plugs (I'm guessing one of these is for the mixture solenoid). So I need the non ECM right? Man I gotta get this straightened out thanks guys.

Yea I looked at pictures and I'm pretty sure what I need is the m2me (non computerized) and I ordered the e2me (computer controlled) I'm like 95% sure that's the case, but if any of you guru's just want to confirm that I would appreciate it.

If yours was a non ECM carb, then that's what you need. I know exactly what you're talking about, I used to have a '85 231 and it had the carb you're describing. I had a carb off a '80 v6 and I didn't have it. You'll need to swap for the non ECM carb, it will. Not run right. You have a non ECM distributor then too, right?

So does that mean my 81 cutlass came all the way from Canada? I live in Florida so that's pretty crazy, and pretty cool because I am a huge fan of the trailer park boys. Can you tell by the VIN?

Lots of Quebecers down there. Who knows. Is the first number in the VIN a "1" or a "2"? Is the 7th to last character a "2" or a letter? So it's a '81? I guess you probably need the correct 2bbl carb for a 1980. What was the number on the old carb?

I sent back the computerized carb and I ordered what I believe is the right one based on a picture I saw of it. It is the Rochester M4ME for 1979-87 3.8 Liter Engine DualJet Non-computerized I'm pretty sure this is the one I need. I will check the VIN and see if she's canadian eh.
