so the dreaded 80's chevy dash has been tamed

started out with a cracked up dash and each and every time i tried sanding it down it would just crumble more and more. so i did what every self respecting guy would do.... i went overboard and bondo'ed everything.

then as i was sanding down the hard to get parts the dash would implode on itself so i did the next most rational thing.... i grabed the grinder some scrap metal and some fiberglass/metal epoxy and a little jb weld and covered the speaker and defroster holes
.

after working down the problem spots that you can see here i mocked it up inside the car again

note the bottle and wires and the oem gauge bezel being cut out so i can build it up with a digi dash.

i liked it so i flocked the dash you can see the difference.

everything needs to be cleaned up pretty well but these are as i go pics

been putting in crazy work these past few days trying to get her started up by this weekend.... spent 12 hours on her saturday just making connections from the battery mounted in the trunk lead to the front of the car soldering and using heat shrink wiring up the switch panel, mounting the msd digital 6 al making up the wires for the starter. and then making a list of what i needed to get to just get her started. well i got a new 16o amp alt that i had to make a pivot bracket for becasue the battery terminal on the alt would rub the valve covers. thermostat housing tighting the spark plugs finished off the remote oil filter mount with coolers got the dipstick in made the transmission cooler secured up a bit better u joint was replaced. worked on it every day this week for a few hours .......... everythinh was fine untill i went to clean my radiator out with a soak i found a hole in it.

bills and life problems ****in suck the life out of car builds lol all im missing now is a fan shroud and wiring up my fans pinning on my hood and making a decision on what to do for headlights(led, hid, stock) and of course tuning for the breakin period and a manual brake conversion 😀 and a windsheild and all the window seals

been a while since i updated but i went from a running driving nitrous car to a turbo setup with fitech 30012 feeding it, the smoking is the header wrap its the first start up on the fitech with no timing adjustment set up
