I have a 79 malibu with 350sbc. It has been lowered 2.5 inches. Frame has not been notched. Will a 15x10 rim with 4.00 backspacing work. Or will a 15x8 rim with 3.75 work better. I want to get as wide of tire as i can while keeping it lowered.

I think your better off with the 8. I believe the 10 is too wide and will probably rub when you turn, but don't quote me on that.

8 inch rim is what you want to run.

I have used a 8.5 inch rim and with my 275-60-15's the looked great...i had to roll the wheel wells and that was about it.

You should go for an 8 inch rim with 3.50 backspacing. I run that with p295x50xr15 and no frame notch. The bf's have tread width of 10.4 inches and 26.7 inches tall they look great!
