I thought I'd bring this to light as Ive read good things about California Car Cover and I think most of that might be based on old customer service policies they've dumped as they expanded.

My cover started tearing (I took my antenna off and put it back on once it was all tore up anyways) and near the antenna then on the mirror first. Then a week or two later i was just pinching the cover to get it to drain and it tore 2-3 more places. It feels like the material has gotten so brittle it just tears.

This is a 1.5 year old cover used 3/4 of the time when I didnt have garage space in a climate of little to no snow.

I contacted customer service as I was in the process of aquiring more garage space. So I thought they should accomodate me as this is a fairly premium cover and its totally messed up. They say they wont accept me taking picture of the car cover I must send it. They also say it will take a month proccessing once they receive. I tell them that Ive never left my car not covered or garaged. They respond that I should buy a temporary cover for 35 dollars while I wait for them for fix my defective cover.

Im never buying from them again. I get that this is probably standard crappy customer service for a cover company. I have a problem that this company started as a small local company with a reputation for good customer service and get bigger and they become like the rest. Just thought Id give a heads up.

Heres the antenna side

Im trying to upload pics of other tears but its saying images are too big. Ill try to figure it out later

They did not say they would not cover it so why not send it to them and I can understand why they won't accept pictures. What is the warranty coverage of the cover you bought?

I think they'll cover it, we'll see. Im pretty sure it comes with a lifetime garauntee. Im sending it when I can take the car to my shop. I just take issue with having a defective cover tearing to pieces and being coverless for a month+ which before I got my shop wouldve left my car exposed. I feel like they should be more accomadating. Like most people buying covers Im trying to protect mint interior not buying for ****s and giggles. Their solution was trying to sell me another cover to use while I wait..REALLY?. On principal Id NEVER do that id buy a walmart cover or leave it out before Id buy another cover from them to use while theyre fixing my defective one. The things falling apart thats terrible quality. And I have to pay to send it.

In the past I read on forums of them just sending replacements which is why I believe they have a (false) good reputation. I get theyre probably not any worse then any big company but they dont deserve their reputation of being better anymore.

with all the scams out there I don't blame them not relying on a picture, they don't want to see the replacement end up on Ebay

I get that they probably have to tighten up Im not unreasonable but offer SOMETHING when its their cover thats falling apart in a year and a half. Send me a free cheap cover instead of trying to sell me one. Send me a sewing kit SOMETHING. Work with me or make some attempt. The guy I talked to wasnt nice or helpful in the least.

Im just going to get my car to my shop, get my replacement hopefully, and buy from another company in the future.

If you keep your car in a garage you could try covering it with a decent cotton sheet or 2

Cheap and effective

I've been buying car covers for my car almost every 3 years now and I had bought 2 of the California Car cover (Noah) I believe and the same thing happened to mine. They get dry and brittle then they shred easily. I've found that they rip on the antenna hole just like yours but you need to use the antenna grommet that comes with it. Lower the antenna or take it off totally then put the cover on and locate the antenna hole and mark it, then take a punk or a lit cigarette and slowly burn the hole on the mark. By burning it it melts around the hole which prevents ripping then put the grommet over the hole. I tried a Cover King car cover last year and it's holding up well so far.
