I've read the manual but I can't find out if the large steel sleeve needs to be hammered out as well before the new poly bushing are going in.
What I think is that the sleeve needs to go to make the bushing profile fit.

the old bushing along with it's metal sleeve needs to be removed to replace it with a poly busing that cones with it's own metal sleeve. The metal sleeve is installed first.

The fact that you asked about a poly bushing in a bell housing caught my attention, but like the above post said the sleeve needs to come out before you can put the bushing in the rear end housing

I noticed the bell housing too but the meaning of words have changed so much I thought this might be one change I havn't heard of..

I forgot you are in Norway, I didn't mean to insult your English and I apologize... I though it was just an error from someone thinking of something else when typing or a lack of coffee....😳

I'm curious how you removed the original bushing rubber from the metal sleeve. I have never been able to remove the rubber and just heat the ears to slide the sleeve with what's left of the rubber..

Ive gotten therubber out before. Those sleeves are a b*tch.

Best way ive found to get it out.
Cut the metal sleeve in a bit. Dont hit the ear. Grab a hammer and bend that ****er inward.

No problem guys 😉
I drilled many holes trough the rubber, then took a propane burner and just let it burn for a while. Hit the inner sleeve with a hammer till it pops out far enough to grab it with a monkeywrench and PULL HARD while the rubber's warm. Easy. Continue to burn and melt the rubber, it will be loose enough to pull out with some pliers. FInaly take a small wirebrush and clean inside.
