so i tried lookin for my turn signal flasher a while back, i had no luck at all. :blam:
all of a sudden it started workin on its own a couple days later. yesterday, i jumped in and drove of and once again the whole situation haunted me again. still the flashers flash when i turn my hazards on, but when i use the directional, it stays lit on the dash and lit outside with no blink. this is driving me crazy. :blam: :blam: :blam:

turn signal switch

I'd recheck the sockets for corrosion or old clumped up grease. If you're not getting a good contact new bulbs won't do you any good. It's very likely too. I don't think your hazards would work if the flasher was bad.

Green $hit in sockets = bad

Dude, I really hope it isn't that, I really don't have any idea on how to fix that. And if I try learning as I go, I'm sure ill break something along the way :blam:

It's not that bad if it is the issue. You will need to remove the steering wheel and retainer plate underneath. Two specialty tools required: a steering wheel puller kit and the tool to depress the plate underneath and remove the retaining clip. You should be able to get both tools at your local autoparts store. The turn signal switch is around $25, I just replaced mine a few months back.

I believe that your turn signal circuit and emergency flashers are not the same system ot the same flasher ... you said it just started working for a bit then quit... If that happens again stop what your doing and listen for the click from the blinker and you'll find it. Unless of course your crusing down the hiway  I dont recommend sticking your head under the dash at 70

I had a very similar problem and mine was from a wire getting exposed against the studs by the tail light and grounding out. I would check to see if any of the wires are laying up against metal and if they are check for exposed spots. It took me FOREVER to find that when it happened to me so i figured i should throw it out there.

Swweet! I know how to pull steerings wheels, but the plate, I have no idea, doesn't seem that hard afer all, a buddy of mine said he had trouble doing his malibu which scared me. But hey I guess I have to learn somehow.

Haha RockSS, maybe if I'm driving fast, ill find the click faster as well.
Well actually I've heard it before and it come from behind the dash, like near the guages, recently I tried takin it apart but since pieces are real old and fragile, little parts were breakin and I got scared and put it all back before it got worse. :?

Wow, that just reminded me, my brake light would go out like notthing, ii thought it was a short somewhere but it the end it was just a bad connection, grounding out. I hope its not much troublee finding it.

Not necessarily. If you look at a 2057 bulb it has dual filaments and two contacts on the base. That's why you have a difference in brightness with the signals and brakes.
