Bone stock VS heavily modified

Greetings TC & all; Tc is that like in Top Cat the cartoon charter from the 60's? Your automobile is out standing, how you restrained yourself from going over board is amazing! And the fact that you used mostly OE stuff, just well thought out. And I on the other hand used mostly after market, cause OE isn't good enough (?), subjective of course. You ended up with a better cruiser & I ended up a better track car. Yours looks OE & mine well ( ). What hurts the most is yours has way more dreamers & value. And I may have spent more money?? Who knows? It was 1979 & I wanted the best lightest GM full frame automobile that was available. After owning three uni - body's. Take care Ole' Bob.
Ps: Then I got off key again. I had went out & the counted holes I have drilled 10 is wrong by half. Looks like at least 20! Some metal worker I am?
PsS: Tomorrow is forecast to be 60+ *F!

For me the main attaction to a G body is that it is the last GM RWD that has the potential to be a car I want to own and drive.

2002 F-body is that car for me. Still so very analog with just enough modern motivation... with a 6 speed manual transmission. Hnnng.

Might be why I swapped the guts of one into my wagon?

1986 Grand Prix LE

Its stock, but I am going to do some things to it.. 3.73 Posi rear.. Rims.. Headers/Duals..

Headlights are already LED - couldn't see worth a damn. Tach on the A-Pilllar.. aftermarket stereo.. Grant steering wheel.

Depends on your definition of Stock as well. Would keeping the same engine, but removing the CCC make it Not stock?

AFAIC, there are 3 G-bodies in stock form that I would want - 86+ GN, 85+ 442, 85+ Monte SS. After that they all say CRANK ME UP.

More cubes, more air (boost), more brakes and hold the f' on.

I wish I had started on G-bodies when Bob (Bronze Brick) had, and had a comparable story to his. But I don't. So....MORE BOOST. My only prereq is that it has to drive on the street - 800+HP street drivers make me smile - ALOT 🙂

That's why 4 door and wagon G-body's are better than the rest 🙂

Yeah, I kinda miss my '02 SS M6 (SLP#6906). I bought that and the wife's Z28 as a matching pair- sort of.

When a stock low line Kia or Hyundai can blow your doors off in acceleration, braking and handling, stock loses it's appeal quickly.

Agreed x2^2

We, assuming there are others in the same boat, forget what a stock G-body is and how it really handled and stopped. 2-3 years ago when I realized our grocery getting Fusion outperformed our G-body in terms of handling and braking I figured I'd push it to the next level. Currently we aren't at the level of a new 'Vette, but it will stop and handle better than a modern car. And it didn't take much to get there, other than some short term living on Struggle St lol.

"Stock sucks" - D. Kindig

Ditto. Pure stock guys typically don't drive their cars anyway. Scared of running up the miles and hurting the value. They die and their grandkids sell their low mileage, stock 1980 Malibu to me for a 519" Cadillac swap.
