Shaker with a "dude" scoop would be my choice.

I'm almost positive I will get some kind of scoop, as I don't want to change my intake or air cleaner. I only need about 3 or 4 inches of clearance

I always liked the Ford "teardrop" design. Back in the day they were on everything, it became like a generic scoop. I know I've seen it in steel, but that will take some looking I'm thinking.

Mark,
Those scoops were popular in it's day. They were cool on Mustangs and Fairlanes...but they occasionally turned up on other cars. I even remember seeing nimrods turn them the wrong way.

My buddy had a fiberglass "teardrop" hood on his 78 Malibu. Thats the only car I have seen one on besides an old Fairlane.

i would go with the pontiac style shaker hood. it shouldnt be that hard to do and it would make people double take at what they just saw. what ever you decide you should post pics. good luck 🙂

I know you don't want to glass it on, but if you decide to go with the TA scoop, JC Whitney offers a knockoff, as real TA scoops are getting pretty pricey.

What would you guys think of a version of this hood for the Lemans/GA/Bonne? This is a hood that VFN makes for the 67-69 Firebird. The leading edge has a very similar "V" body line to what our hood does.

I have a similar problem - I need about 1 or 2 inches of clearance and don't want to change my existing cold air setup. As far as I can tell, Summit has two styles of steel cowl style scoops - big - the "little" one is two feet wide and nearly five feet long!
