Bought a new car.

I recently bought a 2014 subaru hatch wrx, I was flamed by by own family for it. Its the first new car i have ever purchased but i should have know better since they all worked/work at gm facilities.

I wouldn't loose much sleep over it. The WRX is more fun to drive and more reliable than most GM cars I can think of. Besides that, the auto community is pretty inbred anyway -- 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon stuff. GM -> Saab -> Subaru. The Saab 9-3 is essentially a GM car. The Saab 9-2X is a WRX.
There is a long history of US automakers and foreign manufacturers collaborating.
Gm - Isuzu, Toyota, Daewoo, Suzuki
Ford - Mazda, VW
Chrysler - Mitsubishi, Fiat, VW, Mercedes

GM and Ford are currently working together to develop a transmission. This isn't anything new cause this is the 3rd time in 10 years they have joined forces.

I guess now we have the answer to the question, why he said what he said. I asked that question a couple pages back but our administrator disconnected his privileges before he could answer, it must be because he knew he would not like the answer. Since when did it become cool to not support your own country when you have a choice. This is a forum let him speak.

This is not whitey's first time at the Japan bashing roundup. I have my own reasons for not tolerating it at the level whitey brings it. And that's about all I'm going to say about that.

The way I see it whitey forfeited his privilege to post on the forum. He had no right to bash a guy for making a purchase of a Toyota and his basis for his tirade was wrong to begin with as pointed out in multiple posts.

I spotted this old listing in links below another post. I appreciate that one ******** inspired a lot of other POSITIVE comments. Some rather funny:

How did this thread go almost 4 pages without a single photo of the new Corolla?

It's cool how you get it to stick to the wall like that. 8)

I also particularly liked GP403's collateral argument for snuffing DH's privileges: lack of meaningful contribution technical, information, how-to etc.

I'm not making a lot of progress on my two G-bodies lately, but I have learned a lot since I went active again, and now have a lot of nice, rare (or getting there) parts through Forum members, ready to install. In exchange, I am glad to post information here that is of no use to anyone else except us.

Nice that we retain the freedom to use whatever avatar we choose.

I am also pleased to see that the two spams that managed to get posted were also both quickly reported and snuffed.

Shifting gears, I am humbled to report that my first new car was a 1994 flatbed car hauler. My first new car with an engine was a 2005 Scion Xa. Notice they aren't for sale any more. Toyota discovered that their target audience, the 18-30-year-olds, didn't buy them and add profitable blingy options. Nope. It was old farts like me that did the math and figured out that this light, simple, efficient INEXPENSIVE car to get up the road to the paycheck made financial sense. Came fully loaded. The only thing the dealer mugged me for was the plastic shield on the rear bumper to keep soup can from scratching the bumper. No extended warranty and financed through the credit union.

And the change left over could be spent on the occasional-use large fuel pump that was my real passion.

Oh, finally, I got more crap from my GM friends for buying an F350 diesel crewcab than for buying the Toyota.

No chevy dealer would hire me but a ford dealer did. 5 years later I gave in lol. Had a 2004 malibu and after 3 transmissions an a boat load of other issues I told myself that my next daily wouldnt be a chevy. I cant complain with 35 mpg
