when i baught my monte for 500$. it sat for 12years. started it in the guys drivway after the starter unfroze. drove it for about 2 years without ever dropping my tank. buy i did throw in a few bottles of heat and used good gas .

so you just put some new gass and heet in it and ir drove away?

well I gave it a tune up. drove on the same tires fow a few months 2

Mine had been parked for around 5-6 years before I bought it, it would stall unless i revved it around 1500. Tank was only half full though filled it with premium and after that just regular, no problems

well since we've established that it starts, im focused on getting it to stay running. last night i put a gallon of premium in it, and it came a lot closer to starting without pouring any in the carb... like it kept on almost starting again and again and again, about a half second apart. since i couldnt get it to start, i was thinking to go get some heet and(?) octane boosters to see if it would stay running. what else is recommended to do to make it stay running? should i add more gas to the tank since i only used a gallon?

Made her run with some sea foam and a change of carbs, took the one off of my blown motor and stuck it on, now I just need to find the vacuum leak causing it not to stay idle, then change all of the fluids that need to be, change the spark plugs & wires, & of course change the air filter, hit the brake pads & shoes, yanno just a basic tune up... this car ****in runs though, AND its got a limited slip, which surprised me as I took it out of the hole it was in... and of course I gotta take it to the car wash and blow all of that sh*t out of it in the engine bay, then detail the hell out of it.. throw the rest of my rallies on, paint the accents the same brown as the car... in case you can't tell I'm excited 😀

your idle problem may get better once you put good gas in it. and yes, youll need more than just 1 gallon. go ahead and fill it up with premium, once you run it out you can put the cheap stuff in again. ive done that with a few cars that sat for several years. looks like a nice ride, the chrome ralleys will look fine on it.
