The colored fittings are adpater fittings.

Example: putting a tube nut on 3/16" brake line but has the thread size of a 3/8" brake line

Your standard tube nuts will be either natural steel or brass

Right but that is what most of your stock brakes are. They adapt a certain thread size to a certain line size. They didn't necessarily all come gold or steel colored. However it's likely the color had just worn off.

Here's a picture of the replacement lines for my '87. Fitting colors are green and blue which would be 1/2-20 for 3/16 tube and 9/16-18 for 1/4" tube.

If you would just like to buy a kit and not fumble around with piecing stuff together, you can go order BK #335-4289 from NAPA. This is a Roll/Control Line Lock Installation Kit. Makes things simple. You would have to verify what size is at the line where you are connecting the line lock. If it is the same as the fitting at the master cylinder, then you need a 1/2"-20 inverted flare to 1/8" NPT adapter. This kit would contain everything you need.

Pretty sure that's what I said. Never said that the adapter fittings were natural steel/brass in color :|

so from my playing at the autoparts store with a new master cylinder and some fittings it seems the front brake line hook up (rear port) is a 5/16" fitting. was able to find some 1/8" npt to 5/16 inverted flare adapters. need to verify on the car tomorrow and go back to get a section of line to bend into the line lock from the master cylinder
