well just wondering what some of you guys use for brake upgrads because as far as i know there is no kit available for the monte ss and i know that you canput brakes from a b-body on it like the police pack or ss pack but is that the only thing we can do or am i missing something ?
if the b-body conversion is the only way i would asumme that you would just have to change the spindles, rottors, calipers right ?
anyways let me know what you think thanks

I am pretty sure that you also need a different Upper A-Arm in order to get the geometry right. I have read that the Bump Steer becomes a big issue with the B-Body Spindles too. In fact Baer Brakes stopped selling their B-Body Kits because of the bump steer issue. But Baer does sell upgrade kits based on reworked G-Body Spindles.

I went with the SC&C AFX kit which used a C5 Corvette Spindle design, then you can get the Baer Racing Brakes to go with it. Mark the owner at SC&C really seemed to know his stuff.

BMR Also sells kits, I am not as familiar with them. You might also try Wilwood.

For the back brakes a nice easy and cheap upgrade is to use the wheel cylinders for a non power brake S-10. It's a direct replacement and the larger diameter pistons noticeably improves the rear braking

thanks for the rear brake upgrade idea i need ideas that i can keep stock size rims i don't like 17 or 18 on a monte i like a 15 with white letter tires
so i need brakes that can fit in a 15x8 rim

for my front brakes I use cross drilled and slotted rotors and carbon fibre pads and everything else is stock except for stainless braided flex lines and synthetic brake fluid and that car stops real nice with no fading..

ssbc makes a nice calliper up grade for the stock roter and spendle.

thanks bb olds for the ssbc stuff did not know that any body made anything for us guys that will do nice the calipers ss braided lines pads rotor

id give marcus a call at sc&c, he really knows his stuff, i got the afx package spindles for my bu, thet have the advantage of using C5 corvette brakes so you can have 13 inch rotors for less than 700 bucks allong with awesome handling...

G Body Brake Upgrade

Hi,

Right now I am running good fresh stock parts, but I plan to upgrade to 4th gen f-body rear brakes (a freind did it on a 3rd Gen F-body - easy conversion looks and works great), with Late Model Blazer Front spindles and dual piston calipers (should work since fornt suspensions parts are interchangable. I already run 16" wheels.

Does anyone know if this will work. Seems like a good low buck set-up, but I have yet to see it done.

Thanks,

Stoopud

Yes. Just be ready to cut the wheel cylinder perch off the rear axle. Blazer ZQ8 bolts right on the front.
