Or, you can go turbo with a drawthrough system. Won't be able to run much higher than 6 or 7 PSI safely with a stock engine, but it'd be pretty unique.

Why 6 or 7 PSI? Is that *more than* stock boost, or *total* boost? What parts are you suggesting might be inadequate? Stock for the QJet turbo was about 9 PSI, very few more for SFI without intercooler (Hot Air).

As long as you run premium octane, tune properly and stay out of detonation .... I'm scratching my head.

This guy can't even figure out how the stock set-up works and you guys think he's going to be able to manage a turbo setup? He needs a stock carb and by the book, not a blown headgasket and a 79 Monte Paperweight...

😀

Fair enough. Me, I was just asking Mr. Sony for the grounds of his statement about 6-7 PSI, which as you imply, is really starting to take this thread off-topic. My conscience bothered me about that a little when I made the post.

My bad. My knowledge on draw through buick is fuzzy at best. I was suggesting that, 100% bone stock, two bbl and all, it wouldn't handle that much. And like some of us, (granted I dont know his financial situation), premium high octane fuel wont always be an option. But run premium, carb and intake, maybe a cam, and youd have a decent setup. And dual exhaust

It seems to be pretty easy to build a non-turbo setup that will outrun any of the factory-stock turbo motors. But even easier to build a non-stock turbo that's nothing but trouble.

well today was a mile stone for the monte. i tracked down the guy i got the motor from and got all the info of the guy he got it from, talked to him for a little over a hr and im going to meet up with him tomorrow to get the build sheet on the motor. its had alot of work done to it. the carb he was running was a 600 so it looks like ill be firing it up buy this weekend. thanks for all the info and help you all gave me
