I have been itching to remove some of the smog equipment and clean up the engine in my Cab since I purchased it last summer. This weekend I had some time to put some effort into that project so I thought I would throw up some before and after pictures.

Comp Cams Roller Tip rockers were a nice find. The previous owner said that the guy he got it from claimed to have worked over the heads real well and installed roller rockers. But he said he had never taken off the valve covers to confirm so I wasn't expecting to find them under there.

Hard to make out the numbers on the Q-jet. Through a couple of google searches this carb looks up to a 1980 vette or camaro.

A little plumbing left to do yet but it is coming right along.

dayum! thats one purdy engine. makin me jelous(sp?) :respect:

Headers are definately in the works but they won't make this project. It has the factory y-pipe and cross member. Headers means a completely new exhaust with an aftermarket cross member and then there's finding the right headers that will work with a manual shift g-body. I've heard horror stories about headers that don't fit without a ball peen hammer and I'm not eager to go down that path. But you're right. They would look a lot better than the manifolds.

Man thats really lookin purdy! Great work

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback... I'm hoping to get an afternoon or two this weekend to get it running again. I figured since I have to reset the initial timing I may as well recurve the mechanical advance. I picked up a Crane adjustable vac. can for the distributor. I've read the directions four times and it's just now starting to make sense.

Should be a different feeling car with new timing advance, intake and carb.

Thanks again for the feedback.
