What do mean by conversion?

You know were they put that roller cam into the old flat tappet cams place .The main ( odd) part being: retaining the cam' from ridening ahead "...certain death to any cam " !.... you see the 2 screwes ( studs?) On either side of the front cam journal there not even semantical'.. but assuredly would hold the cam stationary ( endwise) in its rotation '... I was thinking about ( pic) this'... I first thought useing the gallery holes tapping them and. Making your own ears on a oem cam lockplate ?...or someone turning out an off center version made to use the galley holes ...as long as the steel wasn't to brittle or to gummy .. could work # ...As far as doing that i don't have time...seems like the fastest way ( no button) is to put the retainer over the cam nose and use a centering drill bit ( handy) to drill the cast through the retainer bolt hole with a self centering bit then Tap it for the studs/bolts and thick nuts ....wait don't let me tell you everything just check all your clearances while your working it up this certainly not the only means

I have Cloyes 2 piece timing covers that have a built in roller cam button on both my engines in my Gbody's, my Monte's BBC cover has been in there for 15 years and my Regal's SBC for about 8 years with no issues. These are both retro fit rollers with a solid roller in the BBC and hydraulic roller in the SBC
I like that I have access to my cam with the removable o ringed center plate and end play is adjustable with the plate on.
