i was just thinking about if the new chevy v6 outa the camero would fit i, lets say, and el camino. for "sh*ts-and-giggles", lets say i had 25k to work with and REALLY wanted a v6.
1) would it bolt to a th350?
2) would it mount to the engine mounts?
3) how kick *ss would THAT be?
another thing i was thinking was what if i had say, a 2005 impalla?
1)would it mount to the fwd transaxel?
2)would the accsessories(sp?) mount
3)how cool would THAT be?

just a crazy thought i had

It's really not worth it. 3.8 or a 4.3 is the way to go.

That 3.6 could make some real power if it did without the exhaust system, headers/mufflers only, and a good tune. It might see 350hp.

But it's too new, I doubt you could fit it to a transaxle without a ton of work, and you'd likely need the transmission that came with it if you don't want a tuning nightmare on your hands.

Btw, a stock 4.3L from 96+ full size trucks will get you 260tq. 3.6 camaro is 273 tq.

Put an edelbrock 2114 manifold, carb, and headers on the 4.3 and it has more power than the 3.6 for a tiny fraction of the cost. Plus it'll bolt up to any old transmission that accepts a sbc

Question is, WHY would you want a V6 when you could grab the LSx engine out of an F-body and be miles ahead of the V6.

You would need to swap the engine and trans as a unit. Physically bolting it into the car is the easy part. You need to install ALL the electronics necessary to get the stock 304 HP out of that motor, plus any software recalibration necessary to make it work in a different chassis. Not saying it can't be done, but it won't be cheap.

basically it'd take the same type of mods as dropping in a LSx motor. but it might not bolt to an old trans at all. i know that there are issue with bolting a 200/700-4r to an LS but they're fixable.
i think it's be really cool. it's a 300+ motor, stock. so with a a good exhaust, intake, and ECU retune? you're talking at least 350HP. and it's be lighter than a V8 so handling would be helped.
but it'll be a b*tch to fix and mod as it's a direct injection motor.

now you could put in a 4.3 vortec CPI motor from 92-95 S10 blazer ,that would move a g-body pretty good. or better yet..I typhoon 4.3 turbo...that would be a great one to do..

The best 4.3 to buy would be one from a 2000-2003 scpi from a fullsize truck. The 4.3 block (LB4) used in the sy/ty is great but it's expensive, expensive to build, and the heads flow like sh*t. The normal 4.3 (LU3) engine can get an easy 350hp & 400tq on about 10-12lbs boost with stock internals and a good tune.

If you want to push it 16-20 (supercharged)psi will net 400-420hp and 450+ ft/lb torque. There are guys who do this on stock internals but are verrry good at tuning. A lot of sy/ty guys actually use newer vortec heads on their setup.

The vortecs in the fullsize trucks put out a little more power than the smaller truck counterparts, and before 2004 it was a return fuel system so it's easy to swap this engine out. A 2004+ 4.3 swap in anything besides the vehicle it's sitting in, is just about impossible due to the new fuel system unless the idea is to swap a carb. If the stock LU3 block is built with forged internals, it'll hold to about 500hp, which is about the limit of a forged evenfire crank on these, any more than that point and you'd need to upgrade to the sy/ty LB4 for the oddfire crank and stronger block. The LB4 is no slouch, most sy/tys that run at the track are putting out 600+ hp, and with a lot of dough you can get 1000hp from the turbo v6

... the best part is when you blow the sh*t outa the crank or burn up a piston on 18 lbs of boost, you just swap out another block for 600-800$ from a junkyard or a rebuilt one for 800-1000$

naw...I will just have to put in my 1970 Monte Carlo SS LS5 454 390HP motor in with the 4 speed changeover...Now that will move the 88 LS wont it...LOL

has anyone ever heard of the GNX...?
