I know there are some people out there that want there car to be perfectly brand specific. ie. Olds motor in olds car chev in a chev. I normally don't care as I think it is owner preferance. Hell I am building a sm blk chev for my 80' cutty right now. Now to the point, Has anyone seen this months issue of hot rod? I have to draw a line somewhere. There is a first gen Camaro in there powered by hold onto your seat a 2jz yota motor. What the hell!! The thing that pisses my off the most is the guy didn't just find a run of the mill car. He butcherd a fresh restored 67' rs/ss car. Damn!! The guy thrash the interior and all. I hate when people butcher rare classic cars. Sorry for the rant but I had to vent.

😢 sum ppl just dont appreciate classic american muscle

Yeah I saw that too and thought exactly the same thing. He cut up the floors and redid the trannsmission tunnel and everything, plus the cheesy looking exhaust tips. Classic cars aren't meant to be cut up, and if you do cut it up, your only lowering it's value in the long run, so I guess he's only hurting himself, but he shouldnt've done that.....some people just piss me off...

Damnit! He stole my idea!!! I gotta see that issue as it is an idea I have wanted to try just because it would piss off the unimaginative. Plus, the 2JZ is such an amazing engine. I would not have cut up a nice one though, but would have butchered a beater instead and made it nice. There's no sense to ruining an expensive restored car.

He used a restored car cause he was too lazy/smart to do the work himself. Unless you do all the work yourself, it's pretty hard to fully restore a car for less than you can buy one that's already done.
To be honest, I couldn't care less if somebody modifies another red Camaro in an "unconventional" way.
Toyota motor or not, it's hot rodding in true form.
Cutting up the tunnel for the trans or modifying a firewall is something that lots of us experience, I don't think there's any crime in that.
I will say it takes a brave man to do that to a numbers matching RS/SS car. The dash and interior are hideous.
And 1,000 horse at the wheels or not, I saw a video of it on the dyno and it still has that awful sound to it that every other one has. Call me biased, but that sound will never grow on me...

Well, if it balances things out, there's a guy here in Lincoln that takes 4th gen RX-7s and does incredibly clean LS1 swaps. He's done half a dozen that I know of, sells them, and turns a huge profit. He also did a built to hell Turbo V6 in a first gen RX-7, and his roomate has a 2nd gen with a stunning 1JZ in it.

Everything evens out in the end.

An LS1 in an FD RX-7 is about as close to the perfect car as you can get. I absolutely love the way those cars look, the only down side is the fuel management system is so bad that they blow apex seals all the time. The LS1 only adds 75 lbs to the nose of the FD, which can easily be taken off in other areas to maintain the car's beautiful balance. To me, it's the closest thing to automotive perfection there is.

I've seen a 350 in a second gen Supra so it's kind of payback. Got no problems with a 2JZ in a 67 RS/SS but cutting up a numbers matching 69 Z28 would be a different story. 😢

a 2jz in that car is sacreligeous--- and not to mention really gay!

the ls1 in a rx1 is just making it a real car, and getting rid of that crappy rotory engine.
