Yea it is not a bad swap. Pretty straight forward. The engine will set down just fine and use all your existing stuff. You will need an intake manifold for vortec heads though. Is your distributor a computer controlled one? If so you probably wouldn't want to keep that.

Yep. It really is as easy as setting it down in there and bolting the trans up. Install an electric fuel pump, you will need a regulator to regulate fuel pressure. Your gonna spend a few more bucks than installing an older non vortec gen 1 but its not a whole lot.

carbing an LS1 has been done but it's ****ing stupid. you still need the computer and all the sensors for the ignition system, and by removing the EFI you lose the instant adjustability. remember, EFI adjusts for environmental conditions many times per second

True statement.

You remind me of my 260 olds days, I wanted to do everything I could to that to boost the power but in the end it was just a let down. Still got smoked by EVERYTHING haha. Goodluck whichever way you choose buddy. As long as you have fun working on it that is all that matters.

lol I remember having a 75 Omega with a 270 and highway gears. Stock other than duals. I could be besid a city bus at a red light, floor it when the light went green and the bus would be pulling away from me (and he was just driving normal lol). But it seemed to pull good on the highway. Had no problem getting it to 100+mph.

1984-monte-carlo-ss, get a Gen 1 350. You can find them all day long anywhere from $400-1000 ready to go. I saw one in the paper today for $400 that said "can hear run." It will be a simple swap since you have a 305 in there already. Then you can bolt on various parts. Don't get to carried away or over your head. Keep it simple, learn, and have fun.

I have a crate motor from gmpp so that might be the diffence but it was a 96-00 or 01( cant rember the ending year) vortech block that had the fuel pump boss but like i said it was a crate motor
